Project of the Week

January 17th Winter Storm

On Tuesday, January 17th, over an inch of snow fell in the Athens area.  Since the temperatures had already been below freezing for several days, the snow stuck to the roadways, causing hazardous driving conditions.  The ACC Police Department contacted the Streets & Drainage division beginning at 6:35 AM, with a list of streets in need of sanding.  Work teams responded to requests throughout the night and into the evening on January 18th.  125 locations were treated with approximately 135 tons of sand.
